Defaced statue of Thackeray's wife creates tension
An uneasy calm is prevailing at Shivaji park area of Dadar after unidentified miscreants defaced the statue of late Meenatai Thackeray, wife of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray this morning.Tension prevailed in the area after Shiv Sainiks torched a tourist bus and obstructed vehicular traffic in the area. Sensing trouble, police reinforcements have been rushed to the spot and security has been tightened.
Meanwhile, police sources have confirmed that if needed police presence would be further increased to thwart any attempts to destroy peace, law and order.
Earlier, Shiv Sena leader and former Chief Minister of the State Manohar Joshi speaking to mediapersons stated that late Meenatai Thackeray is a revered figure and defacing the statue has hurt the Sainiks.
Shiv Sena has called a bandh yesterday in the area.
