Jaya Bachchan back in Upper House
Actress Jaya Bachchan today took the oath as a Rajya Sabha member, while her husband and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan watched the proceedings from the gallery.Ms Bachchan returns to the Upper House as a Samajwadi Party member after she was disqualified by President A P J Abdul Kalam for holding an Office of Profit.
Six months ago, she forfeited her Rajya Sabha membership for simultaneously holding the post of chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
She was the last among the five new Rajya Sabha members who took the oath today.
The others who were administered the oath were K P K Kumaran, (DMK), Rahul Bajaj (Ind), Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam (Cong) and Amir Alam Khan, SP.
