3rd Indian evacuees batch arrive
The third batch of 423 Indian evacuees from the war-torn Lebanon arrived here from Cyprus late tonight.The evacuees were received by Tamilnadu Ministers N Selvaraj, Madhivanan and External Affairs Ministries Joint secreteries Malay Mitra and others at the old airport.
Out of 423 evacuuess 269 are from different parts of Tamilnadu and others belonging to Kerala, Delhi, Punjab, Goa, Andhrapradesh and Mangalore.
The 269 evacuees of Tamilnadu were sent to their respective destinations in the state by the state transport buses, while others housed in a nearby marriage hall would be sent the destination through flights and trains later in the day.
The state government provided an assistance of Rs 500 each to all the evacuees on their arrival. They were also given some refreshments and water bottles.
It may be recalled that 476 evacuees had arrived in two batches on July 22 and 23.
